75 More Hand Sanitizers Recalled For Containing Methanol
At Pure Defender we make people’s health and safety the number one priority. But not all sanitizer companies play by the rules. Many use illegal and toxic substances in their sanitizer products.
75 more sanitizers were just recalled by the FDA adding to the current list of over 220 sanitizer products that have been already been banned by the FDA and Health Canada for issues of mislabelling and using toxic ingredients.
As reported by CBS News
The most recent recall involves a company that used methanol in its hand sanitizer products. Methanol is a toxic substance also known as wood alcohol.
When ingested, methanol can result in nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, permanent blindness, seizures, coma, damage to the nervous system or death, according to the recall notice posted by the FDA.
The FDA goes on to note that “although all persons using these products on their hands are at risk, young children who accidentally ingest these products and adolescents and adults who drink these products as an alcohol (ethanol) substitute, are most at risk for methanol poisoning.”
Many of the recently recalled sanitizers were readily available at Costco, Walmart and CVS stores.
